CSA

CSA is a copper mine located in the Cobar Basin of New South Wales, Australia. The mine takes its name from the CSA orebody, which has been a significant source of copper, lead, zinc and silver since mining operations began in the region. CSA is an underground operation that extracts polymetallic ore from a series of lenses and shoots within the broader Cobar mineralised system. The mine has been operated by various owners over its history, with production methods evolving from early conventional mining to modern mechanised underground techniques. Ore from CSA is processed through crushing, grinding and flotation to produce separate copper and lead–zinc concentrates for sale to smelters. The operation has been an important employer in the Cobar region and a contributor to New South Wales' base metals output. CSA's mine life has been extended through ongoing exploration and the discovery of additional ore zones adjacent to and below the original workings. The mine operates under New South Wales mining legislation and environmental approvals, with rehabilitation and closure planning forming part of its operational obligations. CSA remains one of several active mining operations in the historically productive Cobar district.
