AECI

AECI is a South African chemicals and explosives manufacturing company headquartered in Johannesburg. The company operates across mining, infrastructure, agriculture and water treatment sectors, supplying explosives, blasting systems, specialty chemicals and related services. AECI is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and has operations in southern Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Australia and Indonesia. Its core products include bulk emulsions, initiating systems, flocculants and other mining chemicals used in extraction and mineral processing. The company holds a significant market position in the African explosives and mining services sector, serving open-pit and underground mining operations. AECI's mining division supplies blasting solutions and chemicals critical to mineral extraction, including products used in the processing of critical minerals required for the energy transition. The company also manufactures water treatment chemicals and agricultural inputs through its specialty chemicals divisions. AECI was founded in 1896 as African Explosives and Chemical Industries, initially established to serve the gold mining industry on the Witwatersrand. The company has since diversified its product portfolio and geographic footprint while maintaining its focus on chemicals and explosives for industrial applications.
