Article Headline: AngloGold's Mponeng will be world's deepest mine from Sept, new R9bn project to go to board Oct
Abstract: AngloGold Ashanti's Mponeng mine in Carletonville would become the world's deepest mine in September when it went below 3 777 m, vice-president Southern Africa division Johan Viljoen said on Thursday. A month later, in October, Mponeng would also be presenting the R9-billion Carbon Leader project to the board, which Viljoen said had the potential to extend the mine's life to 2040 and increase its depth still further, to 4 300 m.
