PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed junior Venturex Minerals has expanded its land-holding in the Balingup metamorphic belt, in Western Australia, as it continues its hunt for lithium in the region.

The metals explorer has secured a number of highly prospective lithium prospects in the region, making it the largest land-holder in the Greenbushes mineral district, with some 1 000 km2 of exploration licences under application.

The company used its tin/tantalum database to identify new lithium opportunities in the region through a multi-element technique specifically developed to target Greenbushes type pegmatite deposits.

“We are pleased to be able to use our considerable experience in the tin space to deliver shareholder exposure to the exciting lithium market,” said Venture MD Hamish Halliday.

“We believe this new opportunity is a valuable addition to our portfolio of projects and comes at an exciting time as Venture finalises preparations for its maiden drill programme targeting the company’s largest silver/lead/zinc discovery in northern Thailand.”
