TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Canada’s Uranium One on Monday said it had appointed Grier Colter as the company's executive VP and CFO, to replace Graham du Preez who would be leaving the company to pursue other opportunities.

The company said Colter had more than 15 years of experience in finance and most recently held senior-level positions at Barrick Gold, with a focus on financial reporting, treasury and corporate finance. Before joining Barrick, Colter was treasurer of Moneris Solutions.

Colter earned his chartered accountant designation with Ernst and Young. He is a chartered financial analyst, and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with Honours from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Toronto- and Johannesburg-listed Uranium One, which is in the process of being taken private for $1.32-billion by its 51.4% shareholder Atomredmetzoloto (ARMZ), late in March reported a $68.8-million net loss in the fourth quarter as it wrote down its investment in Mantra Resources.

The company’s shares traded at C$2.80 apiece on Monday on the TSX.
