PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The Tritton copper project, in New South Wales, delivered a record production for owner Straits Resources during the three months to December.

The company reported on Wednesday that copper production during the quarter increased to 7 904 t, from 7 012 t delivered in the previous quarter.

Straits said that the record quarterly production was driven primarily by higher copper grades mined and milled, and built on the consistent performance of the Tritton operation over the past 24 months. The higher copper grades resulted from the mine stoping sequence progressing through higher-grade areas of the orebody.

Mill performance during the quarter remained consistent, with 408 473 t of ore being processed.

Straits on Wednesday maintained its full-year production outlook of 27 000 t of copper for the Tritton mine during 2015.
