PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Dry weather conditions have resulted in gold miner Alkane Resources reporting a dip in gold production during the three months to March.

The miner told shareholders on Friday that extremely dry weather at its Tomingley operation, in New South Wales, meant that mining and processing activities were restricted during the quarter by the availability of water.

Additional water capacity was sourced during the period, along with longer-term solutions for the next summer period, should it be required.

As a result of the dry weather, gold poured for the quarter declined to 13 947 oz, down from the 19 175 oz produced during the previous quarter. Gold sales declined from 16 500 oz in the previous quarter to 16 000 oz, with revenue remaining steady at A$23.6-million.

For the full 2015, the Tomingley mine was expected to produce between 65 000 oz and 75 000 oz of gold.
