PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Dual-listed copper miner Tiger Resources has reported record production for the month of June, with some 4 422 t of copper in concentrate produced, driving a record quarterly production.

The ASX- and TSX-listed miner noted that during the three months to June, the company produced 11 116 t of copper in concentrate, bringing its production for the first half of the year to 20 604 t.

The record production has also resulted in Tiger upgrading its 2013 production guidance to between 41 000 t and 43 000 t, compared with the previous estimate of 37 000 t.

Tiger is currently undertaking the phased development of its Kipoi project, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where the Stage 1 heavy media separation plant was in production.

The Stage 1 operation would produce stockpiles with 147 000 t of contained copper, which would provide feedstock for the Stage 2 solvent extraction electrowinning plant for the first three years of its operation.

Construction of the Stage 2 plant started in January this year and was on schedule for first production in mid-2014.
