TSX- and Aim-listed Thor Explorations has reported gold production of 23 078 oz from the Segolila gold mine, in Nigeria, in the quarter ended June 30.

This while the company progresses exploration within a 25 km radius of the mine.

Diamond and reverse circulation (RC) drilling on the property has continued to identify high-grade quartz-vein-type mineralisation, particularly at the Igala and Ayelle prospects, which are within 15 km of the Segolila mine.

Thor is also undertaking drilling on a new mineralised trend located 23 km south of Segolila to assess both primary and saprolite gold mineralisation.

Moreover, prefeasibility study (PFS) workstreams are ongoing for the Douta project, in Senegal, as well as work on an environmental- and social-impact assessment. Thor continues to find open mineralisation between the known prospects with further growth potential along 20 km of underexplored prospective strike length covered by the Douta exploration permit.

An RC drill programme of 5 000 m is also ongoing at a priority target (Location 6) in south-west Nigeria, which is prospective for lithium-bearing pegmatite deposits.

To date, the main pegmatite has been intersected in five holes averaging 20 m true thickness over 150 m of strike. Samples have been sent for analysis in this regard.

Additionally, a metallurgical sampling programme will start soon.

Thor expects to produce between 85 000 oz and 95 000 oz for the full 2023 financial year.
