JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – A Section 54 order imposed on a processing plant at Tharisa’s platinum-group metals and chrome mine has been lifted.

In an update to shareholders on Monday, the JSE-listed mining company said operations at the Voyager processing plant on the western limb of the Bushveld Igneous Complex had resumed.

An employee was killed in an accident during routine maintenance on November 5 and all operations at the Voyager concentrator plant had been suspended pending an investigation, which had been undertaken by the mine owner – European integrated resources group Tharisa – and the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR).

The Section 54 order was lifted following presentations to the DMR on November 14.

Mining operations were not affected by the suspension.
