JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The Tembang gold mine, in Indonesia, delivered higher gold production in the June quarter, owner Sumatra Copper & Gold reported on Tuesday.
Gold production increased to 6 387 oz, from 5 406 in the December quarter, while silver production decreased to 91 012 oz, from 121 569 oz in the previous quarter.
Total gold-equivalent production increased to 7 602 oz, from the prior-quarter output of 6 916 oz, with increased contribution from the Belinau underground mine.
Sumatra Copper & Gold stated that the June gold-equivalent production was equivalent to an annualised rate of 35 000 oz of gold equivalent.
At full production, Tembang is expected to produce about 33 000 oz/y of gold and 345 000 oz/y of silver at a cash operating cost of $470/oz. The mine delivered its first gold in September last year.
