Tanami expansion 2 gold project, Australia – update

Name of the Project
Tanami expansion 2 gold project.

Location
Australia’s Northern Territory.

Project Owner/s
Gold mining company Newmont Goldcorp.

Project Description
The Tanami mine produces ore from the Callie underground operation.

Currently, ore is trucked from the Tanami underground mine to the surface through a system of declines, which presents challenges in terms of logistics, ventilation and cooling, and the planned expansion of the mine.

The expansion includes the construction of a 1 460 m shaft, additional capacity in the processing plant, and supporting infrastructure to allow for the profitable recovery of ore to 2 140 m below surface.

The project will increase the capacity of the processing site from 2.6-million tonnes a year to 3.5-million tonnes a year while extending the mine life beyond 2040.
