Africa-focused supply chain adminis-tration solutions provider Sherwood International will showcase its solutions at this year’s West African Mining and Power Exhibition (Wampex), to be held at the Accra International Conference Centre, in Ghana, from May 28 to 30, says new business development GM Neels Botha.

“Sherwood is the only company providing supply chain administration as a service and a solution across all facets of the mining industry supply chain. Our ability to establish reliability in the supply chain is proven in the long-standing agreements that we have with our clients, specifically with regard to electricity distribution in Ghana.

“Ours is a simple solution, whereby we enable the growth of businesses by taking away the administrative burden of supply chain manage-ment from our clients. “We are currently involved in several agree-ments that will enable us to expand our footprint in West Africa,” says Botha.

He adds that, during this year, Sherwood will work with a local business development partner in Ghana to enhance its service offering to Ghana-based clients.

Sherwood International has operations in more than ten countries across Africa and is known for its procurement solutions, which include sourcing suppliers and facilitating supply transactions that can be outsourced by businesses. The company also has experience in transport and logistics management.

“We participated in the 2012 Wampex show as an exhibitor and found the conference to be invaluable, as we gained a lot of useful information on opportunities in West Africa.

“Ghana is ideally situated for marketing our services to West Africa and, as Wampex is the biggest trade show in the region, it is an ideal opportunity to market our services,” Botha explains.

Sherwood International marketing coordinator Venessa Smit tells Mining Weekly that the company plans to conduct a survey of trade visitors at the event “to mine their under-standing of constraints in the inbound supply chain to Ghana”.

The survey will help the company understand its clients’ understanding of supply chain management and, ultimately, help its customers to establish suitable systems for the Ghanaian market that will incorporate the input acquired from the survey, concludes Smit.
