Supplier aims to take top spot in Africa by 2022

SYDNEY PARKHOUSE The key factors driving the original-equipment manufacturer’s ongoing success is its expertise and the experience of its new management team

Vibration equipment supplier Aury Africa intends to become the leading manufacturer and supplier of high-performance minerals processing equipment to the African mining industry by 2022, with initial focus on Zambia and Mozambique, says director Sydney Parkhouse.

He is optimistic that the green shoots appearing in commodity sectors, such as copper and iron-ore, bode well for the industry as a whole. “We will ramp up our production in conjunction with our clients, as they ramp up their operations in anticipation of meeting the increased demand for commodities globally.”

His team, comprising business development manager George Sturgeon, regional sales manager Ameen Peters, production manager Kiran Singh and sales administrator Active Ngwenya, took over from the previous management in February, who are no longer associated with the company.

At the time, Parkhouse stressed that, in the interim, it would be business as usual, stating that one of the key factors driving the original-equipment manufacturer’s (OEM’s) ongoing success is its expertise and the experience of its management team.

Parkhouse, a professional engineer, has 40 years’ experience in the mining industry, working with various minerals, including coal and gold, in mining sectors as different as Mozambique, China and Colombia.

Parkhouse will ensure that Aury Africa has good representation in Africa. “Our mission is to provide our clients with reliable and cost-effective solutions to their production challenges, supported by professional after-sales service teams.”

Additionally, he will strive to forge a closer working relationship with Aury Africa’s sister companies Aury Tianjin and Aury Australia.

As Aury Africa’s goal is to provide the best innovative screening and vibrating equipment solutions and services to the African mining market, Parkhouse notes, the company intends to leverage the economies of scale provided by large-scale Chinese production from its sister company, Aury Tianjin, with the aid and assistance of technical know-how developed in Australia and South Africa.

“We will draw on the technical expertise and project successes of the international group [and combine this] with our local knowledge of African operating conditions.”

Aury Africa produces a complete range of high-quality vibrating screens for the coal, gold and other minerals processing sectors. This consists of banana, horizontal, circular, high-frequency and flip-flop vibrating screens.

It also supplies a range of exciters to fit most OEM screen types and consumable products such as centrifuge baskets, polyurethane wedge wire panels, intertank/interstage cylinder screens for classification, sieve bends and static panels for separation.

“A significant competitive advantage for Aury Africa, and a major cost-saver for our clients, is our capability to manufacture these polyurethane wedge wire panels [in South Africa] at a fraction of the price of similar imported panels,” Parkhouse points out.

“Combined with our technical backup and support, we are able to offer a total solution.”

He adds that Aury Africa also has a sound research and design capability, backed by the technical expertise of engineers who have extensive experience in vibration technology for the mining sector. “Aury design engineers think outside the box to provide traditional vibrating technology using leading-edge thinking and design techniques to produce innovative capital equipment that is superior to anything on the market today.”
