Sidi Bernoussi wastewater pretreatment plant commissioning in Casablanca

26th May 2015

The commissioning of the Sidi Bernoussi wastewater pretreatment plant designed and built by the group SUEZ environnement (Mandatary) and Sogea Maroc, was held on 31 March 2015. Since 20 April 2015 the facility receives 100% of the effluent intended for it.

Inaugurated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on 13 May 2015, this station is part of the Anti-Pollution project launched by the City of Casablanca and LYDEC in order to contribute to the Urban Development and improve the quality of the Casablanca-Mohammedia coastline.

The contract signed in May 2013, included the completion of the pretreatment plant and the lifting and delivery stations into the marine outfall.

The wastewater from the East Coast Casablanca now undergo a coarse and fine screening before being discharged to more than 2 km offshore, helping to preserve the beaches of over 22 km.
Grit and oil will be also removed soon.

Congratulations to the team for the great job done in an extremely short time.
