Shanghai to host chromium conference next week

The International Chromium Development Association (ICDA) will be hosting the Chromium 2016 conference in Shanghai, China, from November 8 to 10, where presenters will provide insights into the current state of the sector and its future prospects.

ICDA president Jeff McLaughlan will open the event by giving the welcoming address at the conference. He will be followed by strategic market intelligence firm China Market Research Group MD Shaun Rein, who will present a keynote address titled ‘The End of Cheap China – change your mind set!’.

Diversified natural resources sales and marketing company ERG Sales ferroalloys director Dmitriy Pastour will moderate a roundtable discussion on the chrome and ferrochrome markets. The session’s participants will include global operator of exchanges and clearing houses Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing marketing and training manager James Wang, ICDA market research analyst Loïc Racon and global business-to-business trade platform China Ferroalloynet chromium product manager Wu Limei.

The final session of the first day of the conference is titled ‘Chrome Chemicals and Metal Outlook’ and will be moderated by speciality chemicals group Lanxess global marketing manager Mike Techow. The session’s participants will include Racon, Chinese specialist coating professional committee China Surface Cleaner
Engineering Association cleaner production steering committee member Fan Jingxing, Chinese chromate salt producer Sichuan Yinhe Chemical technology manager Ma Shunyou and chemicas compliance solutions provider REACH24H Consulting Group vice GM Rita Qiu.

The second day of the conference will open with a roundtable discussion titled ‘Practical cases for improving knowledge, productivity and environmental performance’, which will be moderated by integrated resource group Tharisa CEO Phoevos Pouroulis. The participants for the session will include diversified mineral resources company Exxaro growth manager Jacob Oosthuizen, sustainable technology and service solutions company Outotec China and North Asia sales head Mikael Louhi, ferroalloy and stainless steel manufacturer Mintal Group VP JonathanQiu, law firm Bowman Gilfillan director Andrew Pike and Chinese chromium salt producer Chongqing Minfeng Chemical sustainability manager Kaisheng Zhu.

There will also be a stainless steel roundtable and panel discussion facilitated by steel and metals market research firm SMR MD Markus Moll.
