PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed energy provider Senex Energy has reported a 35% increase in oil and gas production during the three months to December, with the company producing 447 000 barrels of oil equivalent.

Gas production for the quarter was up 72% on the previous quarter, to 261 000 barrels of oil equivalent, on the back of the continued ramp-up of the Roma North operation, and initial production from the Atlas and Gemba field.

Oil production for the quarter was also up by 3%, to 186 000 barrels.

“This was a stand-out quarter for Senex, as new gas molecules were delivered to the domestic market and gas production in the Surat basin outperformed,” said Senex MD and CEO Ian Davies.

“We have now reached 20 TJ/d of gas production in the Surat basin. With existing wells continuing to ramp up and more new wells to be brought on line in coming weeks, this growth trajectory is expected to continue.”

Davies noted that in the Cooper basin, Senex is completing the free-carry drilling campaign and an interpretation of the Westeros three-dimensional survey has provided a large inventory of material exploration and appraisal leads to pursue.

Meanwhile, Senex on Thursday reported sales revenue of A$29.4-million for the quarter, up 23% on the previous quarter, on the back of the higher production and a higher realised oil price.
