PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Magnetite miner Grange Resources has suspended share trading following a fatality at its Savage River mine, in Tasmania.

The miner on Monday said a specialist contractor had been involved in a "serious safety incident" at the Savage River mine’s North pit on Friday, with reports stating that the man had succumbed to his injuries after falling a "considerable distance".

Operations at the South deposit have now resumed, some 5 km away from the site of the incident.

Grange on Monday said the company was working with WorkSafe Tasmania to investigate the incident, and was providing support to the contractor’s family, fellow workers and the extended community.
