Tenova Mining & Minerals today announced that its South African black empowered operating arm, Tenova Mining & Minerals South Africa, has been awarded a significant materials handling contract by Sasol Mining. The award forms part of Sasol Mining’s Tweedraai expansion project in Secunda, South Africa, which will see part of the Syferfontein mine being replaced.
This is one of Sasol’s projects which are underway to ensure that they have modern replacement operations to replace some of Sasol’s long-standing, but depleting, mines. The project includes the use of optimised steel structures and designs utilising advanced technologies, which have been developed in-house over the past decade by Tenova Mining & Minerals South Africa’s trading division, Tenova TAKRAF Africa. The company is a leading open pit mining, underground solutions and bulk handling specialist and will design and execute the project.
