Welcome to Creamer Media’s Resources Watch, a weekly video round-up of the events and people making and shaping the news in the mining industry.

This week:

Platinum industry not mining anywhere near forecast demand
Roodepoort Rocket back as DRDGold pays off-charts dividend
And, mining project enquiries on the rise

The platinum mining industry is not mining anywhere near the forecast demand of nine-million ounces by 2025, the nominal global demand quantum based on a modest compound annual growth rate of only 1.5%.
Northam Platinum CEO Paul Dunne

DRD Gold announced a dividend six times higher than last year’s, as its market capitalization rocketed from R700-million to R3.7-billion in a matter of months.
DRDGold CEO Niël Pretorius

Although the mining project business is currently depressed, the increased number of enquiries for potential studies is indicative of an uplift in demand.
