Services provider targets sub-Sahara

TAILORED SERVICES RA International’s site analysis allows for service delivery tailored for the African region

Dubai-based remote-site construction and services provider RA International (RA) aims to introduce its broad service offering to the sub-Saharan Africa mining industry.

The company aims to provide a variety of packaged solutions, such as turnkey accommodation, facilities maintenance, plant and equipment maintenance, pest control, catering and full camp construction, to mining operations from the exploration phase to the production phase. RA offers full turnkey services to allow the miners to focus on the mining itself.

RA CEO Soraya Narfeldt tells Mining Weekly that RA is best equipped and positioned to provide the sub-Saharan Africa mining industry with the necessary solutions, as the company has been working in these regions for more than 15 years. RA’s unique selling proposition is its market intelligence with real-time information gathering from its teams on the ground who cover all potential risks and issues at the locations.

RA assists mining companies, specifically companies from outside Africa that mine in African countries, by outlining the requirements of the site in all respects from logistics and weather to culture, local communities, customs duties, local labour and other “on the ground” information that can delay and derail operations.

With its years of experience of delivering structured local content management support to various United Nation agencies and Western developmental bodies, RA has developed a unique methodology to employ, train, upskill, monitor and quantify local content, as well as local supplier development through quality control and quantitative key performance indicators.

“Our company has the knowledge and expertise to provide packaged solutions for mining companies, because the company performs in-depth, on-site analysis from a local level and country level to determine the site requirements and risk mitigation to ensure that it is executed professionally, on time with no delays operationally that can affect productivity.”

The company has clients in Sudan, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African Republic, besides others. Narfeldt believes that RA’s approach and past performance in supporting humanitarian missions will open doors for the company among mining companies looking for a new approach rooted in fresh ideas and managed by a dynamic team of over 27 nationalities.

For example, RA is providing services for a remote mine site in sub-Saharan Africa. “The site is about 15 hours away from the closest city by car. We maintain the camp by providing 24/7 power, water, equipment maintenance, water and all supplies to support the mining team.” The company also provides all the cooking and cleaning services, as well as pest control to support healthy living and working environments for mine-site operators, says Narfeldt.

“With our services, there is no downtime and more productivity, as site operators can focus on core operations because we provide the entire life support required to run the site efficiently.”
