PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Red 5 has reported a "significant" material movement from the northern wall of its Siana openpit operation, in the Philippines.

The miner, however, assured shareholders on Tuesday that no personnel were injured or equipment damaged.

An assessment of the impact of the material movement is under way, including whether the movement will impact on the current openpit mining plan for the Siana mine.

Red 5 noted that, in the meantime, work on the Stage 6 eastern wall cutback and on underground development activities continue to make good progress, and have not been impacted. Mining operations are continuing to operate in accordance with the revised mine plan instituted by the company earlier this year.
