JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Sumatra Copper and Gold on Tuesday reported record monthly production from its Tembang gold/silver operation in Sumatra, Indonesia.

Gold production for the month of November totalled 3 650 oz gold equivalent and is forecast to increase to 4 000 oz gold equivalent in December. In 2018, production is forecast to average 4 300 oz a month.

Sumatra reported that stoping was under way at the Belinau underground mine with two stopes completed, three stopes in operation and five stopes expected to be in continuous operation by 2018.

The decline has advanced below Level 11 and would reach the base of the current planned mine during the March quarter.

At the Berenai openpit, operations are reported to be progressing well. The mine will continue to supply high-quality ore feed until its closure in mid-2018. Mining at Asmar, which contains the majority of the openpit reserves, will start in the March quarter and will continue through to late 2019.
