JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) on Thursday said 66 rock-drill operators (RDOs), who are members of the union, have staged an underground sit-in at gold producer Gold One’s Modder East Operations, in Springs, since Tuesday.

The RDOs are demanding a R250 bonus per blast and say that they will not abandon the sit-in until their demands are met.

They also demand that management not take disciplinary action against them when they resurface.
