JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – An employee has died at Royal Bafokeng Platinum’s (RBPlat’s) Styldrift I project, in the North West, following a shaft-related incident on Saturday.
All normal underground operations had been suspended pending a full investigation into the incident, in which mine contractor Shaft Sinkers stage hand Xadreque Chihungo was fatally injured.
An investigation had already started and would be conducted in conjunction with the Department of Mineral Resources.
The board of directors, management and colleagues at the Styldrift project extended their sincere condolences to Chihungo’s family and friends.
