KALGOORLIE (miningweekly.com) – Gold miner Ramelius Resources is hoping to add the Blackmans gold project as a bolt-on operation to its existing Mt Magnet mine, in Western Australia, within the next year.

“I would like to think that we can bring this project on line as quickly as we did Kathleen Valley,” Ramelius MD Mark Zeptner told the last day of the Diggers & Dealers conference.

“We want to get the project into reserves shortly and have permitting completed by early next year.”

In June, Ramelius announced a maiden resource of 490 000 t, grading 2.5 g/t gold for 39 000 oz of contained gold at Blackmans. The resource estimate was generated following reverse circulation drilling conducted by Ramelius, as well as previous drilling carried out by Harmony Gold in 2006.

Zeptner noted that, while a current openpit operation was being planned at Blackmans, Ramelius was also considering the project’s underground potential, which would be evaluated before the end of the year.
