Protective clothing firm launches new products

Personal protective clothing supplier AJ Charnaud & Co has added the PowerFlex electric safety glove by Ansell to its prod-uct range.

The safety glove offers a new-to-market flame-resistant solution for hand protection.

“It is the first glove that is flame resistant and antistatic, with electric arc flash and cut protection, all in one comfortable, ergonomic product. The glove meets [European standards] EN 407 Level 4 flammability resistance, Arc Flash Hazard Category 2 rating and EN 388 cut protection Level 5,” reports AJ Charnaud & Co.

The flame resistance of the glove is inherent in all components, and stays effective even after multiple washes. The thin and lightweight 13 g knitted glove increases productivity by allowing the user to manipulate small objects without removing their gloves.

AJ Charnaud & Co says the PowerFlex glove is ideal to use for equipment assembly, machinery maintenance, electrical work, pipe installation, heavy-duty metal handling and various other applications. The glove can be used in the utilities, construction, oil and gas, mining, petrochemicals and manufacturing industries.

The protective clothing firm has also intro-duced a new cooling vest, which protects against heat stress, to the Middle East and Africa markets.

“The cool vest garments are multifunctional and can be used for environments where control of body core temperature is essential to work safely, comfortably and productively. These garments protect and cool the body in an optimal way using no electrical appliances – only water,” reports AJ Charnaud & Co.

The Fire Safe vest cools its wearer down to 7 °C below the ambient temperature for up to 72 hours, depending on the temperature, humidity and climatic conditions.

The vest material is flame retardant and can be worn next to skin or over lightweight fabrics. The Fire Safe cool vest becomes lighter as the water evaporates.

AJ Charnaud & Co was founded in 1972 by Fiona and Andrew Charnaud as a personal protective clothing manufacturer. Its clothing products offer protection against heat, flames, fire, molten metal and the thermal effects of electric arc flash.
