PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Coal production has started at the Blair Athol thermal coal mine, in Queensland, ASX-listed TerraCom reported on Tuesday.

The company told shareholders that first production occurred on schedule, with the operation due to ramp up as planned to around two-million tonnes a year by the fourth quarter of 2017.

The coal production started in conjunction with bulk earthworks required for the rehabilitation of the prior operations as defined in the Environmental Authority.

Meanwhile, the company reported that the dragline overhaul was continuing as planned, and that it would be placed back into operation before the end of the month. Similarly, the recommissioning of the coal handling and preparation plant continued on plan with a scheduled restart of mid-October.
