Petra Diamonds sells two exceptional stones for combined $12.3m

126.4 ct exceptional diamond recovered at Cullinan

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Petra Diamonds on Friday reported that it had sold two exceptional white stones of 126.4 ct and 91.5 ct for $8.52-million and $3.78-million, respectively, at its December tender.

The two exceptional stones were recovered at the company’s Cullinan mine and were examples of the sizeable Type IIa diamonds that the operation is known for and were considered to be of top colour and quality.

"These solid prices achieved for the two special Cullinan stones, as well as for the balance of Petra's recent tender, are very encouraging and reaffirm Petra's view that firmer market conditions will continue into the second half of the 2014 financial year," Petra CEO Johan Dippenaar commented.
