JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed PanAust on Thursday resumed production at the Phu Kham copper/gold operation in Laos, after a temporary suspension prompted by a security incident at the accommodation camp on Tuesday.

PanAust reported on Friday that the incident, in which an employee was assaulted and wounded by an assailant, was an isolated case and that there were no wider implications for the security of other employees and the operation.

The temporary suspension did not have a material impact on the forecast production and operations and PanAust stated that it remained on track to meet the upper-end of its 2014 stated guidance. The company’s production guidance ranges from 65 000 t to 70 000 t of copper in concentrate, 160 000 oz to 165 000 oz of gold and about 1.2-million ounces of silver in concentrate and doré.
