PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Junior explorer Minotaur Exploration has identified a number of new copper-gold targets around producer Oz Minerals’ Prominent Hill operation, in South Australia, which would now be investigated further.

In October last year, the two companies signed a heads of agreement that allowed Minotaur unfettered access to Oz Minerals’ database over the Mt Woods project area, which the explorer would use to try to identify new mineral discovery opportunities.

Following four months of data synthesis, the explorer had now generated a range of new targets.

“Minotaur has identified some very interesting targets. What is really exciting is that these targets are very close to Prominent Hill and within a region that has a great copper pedigree,” said Oz Minerals MD and CEO Andrew Cole.

Of the suite of targets recommended by Minotaur, Oz Minerals had selected four for joint investigation, after additional geophysical work.

Minotaur had elected to pursue further investigation of another four targets.

“Minotaur is very pleased that Oz Minerals has endorsed a number of our recommended targets. To be invited to participate in unlocking mineral wealth within Oz Minerals’ tenements is an excellent opportunity and pays testimony to our experience and past exploration success in South Australia’s Gawler Craton,” said Minotaur MD Andrew Woskett.
