JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – ASX- and JSE-listed Orion Minerals, which is developing the Prieska base metals project in South Africa’s Northern Cape, has appointed Michael Hulmes as nonexecutive director.

Hulmes is a mining engineer with over 30 years’ senior executive, management and corporate experience in mining operations and projects in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania and China.

“The Orion board is very pleased to appoint someone with Michael’s extensive mining operations background. Michael is particularly well suited to complement and enhance the board composition and to assist our operations team, as the company focuses on completing the bankable feasibility study on the Prieska zinc/copper project,” commented Orion chairperson Denis Waddell.
