Oriental Rubber Industries

Oriental Rubber Industries is a leading producer of an extensive range of rubber ply conveyor belts, including a large range of steel cord belts for the mining and industrial industries, in local and global markets.

With an extensive research and development programme, the company boasts various new generation belts, including single-ply Kevlar belts (Maxx Armour range), which replace certain steel cord application belts, and a rip-resistant straight warp belt for high-impact, tear-resistant applications (Maxx Rock range).

Established in 1949 in India – a country which is the world’s fourth-largest producer of rubber – Oriental Rubber’s experience has been passed down over three generations, making the firm a global leader in its field. The group believes its experienced and ever-attentive sales team has a proven record in managing contract supplies of conveyor belts in South Africa and has the ability to provide the same excellent service to the South African market that Oriental Rubber is already reputed for in the international market.

In South Africa, Oriental Rubber’s new factory is situated at the corner of Commissioner and West Central streets, in Boksburg, Gauteng. The ISO 9001-accredited company believes that the factory has significant expansion possibilities in line with improving exports and increasing job opportunities in future.

The products manufactured in South Africa and in India bear the South African Bureau of Standards mark, as well as quality certification marks from the US, Europe and Australia.

The company was recently awarded contracts from Glencore, Impala Platinum, Northam Platinum, Samancor, Sasol and Vedanta Resources. Oriental also has a long-term supply relationship with companies such as Pan African Resources, Sibanye Gold, AngloGold Ashanti and ArcelorMittal South Africa.

Oriental Rubber has a broad-based black economic-empowerment Level 4 status.
