PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed OM Holding’s subsidiary, OM Manganese, has been fined A$487 500 for a 2019 fatality at its Bootu Creek manganese mine, in the Northern Territory.

A wall failure at the Tourag pit resulted in the fatality of a 59-year-old mining employee.

OM Holdings said on Wednesday that the company accepted full responsibility for the casual factors that contributed to the fatality, and accepted the Northern Territory Local Court’s decision to impose the fine for a break of the Work Health and Safety Act.

“Employee and contractor safety continues to be a priority for the company and its subsidiaries. The company once more extends its most sincere condolences to Mr Butler’s family and friends,” the company said in a statement.
