NOSA secures training material development contract with Assmang

22nd September 2016

NOSA, the largest provider of occupational health and safety services in Africa, recently secured a training contract with Assmang’s Khumani Mine, whereby NOSA will be developing a number of videos and 3D animation specifically for the mine’s induction and training programmes.

The project is broken into two phases with the first phase focusing on creating videos that concentrate on site orientation, general site rules & awareness, security, signage, emergency preparedness amongst others.  Phase two will include the development of a generic induction, based on the mandatory code of practice and generic mining and engineering standard procedures that will align to the MQA standards, Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) requirements and best practice.

According to Dr. Deonie Botha, Head of Research & Development (R&D) and Innovation at NOSA, the mining industry typically has unique requirements and service providers must not have a “one size fits all” approach to the industry. The investment that NOSA continues to make into its R&D Department allows us to create bespoke solutions to the mining industry that caters for their specific needs and risk profiles. The DMR has identified the need across the mining industry to improve training and induction content and according to Botha, NOSA is well positioned to assist companies in complying with this DMR requirement.

Duncan Carlisle, CEO of NOSA, stated “Along with Assmang’s Khumani  Mine, NOSA has secured a similar type contract with Airbus in France, whereby we are creating a customised e-learning training course focusing on their specific occupational health and safety needs. These are both very exciting projects for NOSA and create significant opportunities for growth going forward.”
