NEW FACILITY

The Southern Africa division of Japanese yellow metal equipment manufacturer Komatsu recently opened its new R985-million facility in Germiston, east of Johannesburg. The campus comprises the company’s head office operations, the Gauteng branch and training centre, equipment workshops and a parts distribution centre. The 300 000 m2 development is one of the largest industrial campuses in the country and will serve as the central hub from which the company will manage its widespread operational footprint across South and Southern Africa. The facility will enable Komatsu to support the expansion of the local economy through the streamlined supply of equipment to mining markets, among others. Workers stand here with one of Komatsu’s rigid dump trucks, used extensively throughout the mining industry in South Africa.
