JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Murray & Roberts Water, partnering with technology provider Miwatek, has been awarded a contract by an unnamed blue-chip mining client, in Ghana, to undertake basic engineering design and pilot testing of a water treatment plant at one of its operations.

Work on the project had already started and would run to April next year.

Commenting on the contract, operations executive Harry Singleton said its awarding had succeeded the earlier implementation of a containerised water treatment plant for gold miner Gold Fields at its Tarkwa operations, also in Ghana.

“This contract also provides us with an opportunity to follow our preferred business model of early stakeholder engagement to find optimal technical and commercial solutions that fulfil the agreed project objectives,” he said.
