Monadelphous wins A$260m Rio contract

PERTH (miningweekly.com) - Mining giant Rio Tinto has awarded a A$260-million construction contract to engineering group Monadelphous Group for its Western Turner Brockman project, in the Pilbara region.

The contract was for the supply and installation of structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation works for the construction of the Western Turner Brockman iron-ore plant.

Rio was currently working to expand its iron-ore output to some 360-million tons a year by the end of the second half of 2015.

The Monadelphous contract was scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of this calendar year.
