The Dugald River zinc project, in Queensland, in Australia, has officially been opened, with its first concentrate delivered to the load-out facility in Cloncurry.

ASX-listed metals miner MMG said last week that the shipping of first concentrate was expected before the end of the year.

The commissioning of the project is continuing to progress to plan, with the remaining construction work and the introduction of commissioning ore to the processing circuit having been completed.

At full production, the mine is expected to produce 170 000 t/y of zinc in concentrate, as well as by- products, with an estimated mine life of 25 years.
