Megadoors keep haul trucks dust-free during maintenance

26th August 2016

Industrial door manufacturer, supplier and installer Maxiflex Door Systems has installed 24 Megadoors at the haul truck maintenance facility of the world’s biggest openpit platinum mine, Mogalakwena, in Limpopo.

The Anglo American Platinum-owned mine is an openpit truck and shovel operation, near Mokopane, and is one of the platinum company’s flagship operations.

The Mogalakwena mine’s workshop required doors that were reliable but required little maintenance. To keep the maintenance facility dust-free in the dry season and mud-free in the rainy season, Maxiflex Door Systems selected the Megadoor S1000 from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems.

The Megadoor S1000, which is now named the Crawford VL3016, is an extra-large vertical-lifting fabric door, specifically designed for industrial environments where doors are exposed to moisture, dust, extreme temperatures and high wind speeds.

Every door is individually designed to meet application requirements and can be constructed to meet almost any size requirement. For the Mogalakwena project, Maxiflex Door Systems supplied doors ranging from 8 m   8.2 m  to 13 m   11.2 m.

Using the Megadoor S1000 at Mogalakwena improves the working environment inside the workshop, as the translucent fabric allows in natural light.

Keeping critical components dust-free, ensures better repair and installation of components to haul trucks, reducing the overall breakdown turnaround time.

Maxiflex Door Systems, which is exhibiting at Electra Mining Africa, is the sole distributor in South Africa of Albany high-performance doors, Crawford overhead sectional doors and docking solutions, as well as vertical lifting fabric doors. These brands form part of global group ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems.

Maxiflex Door System’s locally manufactured products include Maxiflex strip curtains and impact doors.
