PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The TiZir titanium and iron project, in Norway, has started chloride titanium slag and high purity pig iron production, following a furnace restart on January 7.

ASX-listed Mineral Deposits Limited (MDL) said on Wednesday that both products were to required specifications and were produced using ilmenite from the Grande Cote mineral sands operation.

Operations at TiZir were halted in August last year following an operational incident that caused damage to the surrounds of the furnace, as well as some sections of the furnace lining.

MDL said chloride slag shipments would resume in early April.
