PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Diamond miner Lucapa Diamonds has recovered another round of large diamonds at the Lulo mine, in Angola.

The recent recoveries include two large diamonds weighing 77 ct and 71 ct respectively, and follow the recent recovery of diamonds weighing 172 ct, 104 ct and 72 ct, as well as a 39 ct pink diamond.

The five white diamonds will be put up for sale in the December quarter.

Lucapa said on Wednesday that it had started commissioning of modules for the new X-ray transmission (XRT) diamond processing and recovery stream, which will provide the capacity for the 150 t/h plant to recover individual diamonds of up to 1 100 ct.

Lucapa secured the XRT module following the discovery of a record 404 ct diamond in February.

The Australian miner owns the Lulo mine in a joint venture with Angola's State-owned Endiama and Rosas & Petalas.
