PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Kidman Resources has reported an initial mineral resource of 99 000 oz, at 5.6 g/t, at its Burbanks gold project, in Western Australia.

The project, which was acquired by Kidman for A$3-million in May, was scheduled to start milling underground ore in September. Kidman was currently stockpiling ore from the Birthday Gift underground mine in anticipation of processing.

This ore would be supplemented by ore from the Christmas openpit mine.

Since acquiring the project, Kidman had worked to establish an initial mineral resource as part of its process to bring the Burbanks project into production and was already well advanced with a current 3 000 m reverse circulation drilling programme outside of the initial mineral resource.

An additional 7 500 m diamond drilling programme was also set to start in the first week of September, targeting outside the initial mineral resource.

Kidman was hoping to establish an additional 625 000 t to 650 000 t of resource, grading at between 4 g/t and 6 g/t gold, for an additional 80 000 oz to 120 000 oz of gold.
