Join the conversation about the future of Latin American Mining at Mining Cumbre

17th May 2018

Latin America is an exciting, growing destination for mining investment, development and exploration projects. With an attractive mining environment and geology rich with natural resources, the region is one of the world’s largest producers of iron ore, copper and gold.

The LatAm Mining Cumbre is the event that showcases mining investment opportunities and cutting edge discussions on key industry issues and challenges. The event brings together mining companies, investors, governments and key stakeholders from the mining value chain around the world, providing participants with an unparalleled opportunity to engage and network with high-caliber stakeholders and decision makers from the mining industry.

2018 Cumbre has already secured key government speakers, ensuring the event is not only an opportunity to make deals but also to discuss mining policies. Mining ministers and government representatives from Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Argentina are confirmed, with more to come.

The programme has expanded to cover the social and environmental issues around mining and include topics on innovation to overcome some of the challenges the sector faces. Reforms taking place across the region bring new opportunities, and growing demand for lithium from the electric vehicle sector is providing fantastic growth prospects for the investment community, mining companies and governments.

Marcelo Awad (Companies Director and Former CEO, Antofagasta) commented on the upsurge in demand for lithium:

“The Mining Cumbre event will allow us to encourage collaboration and break down barriers between governments, international investors and mining companies, to ensure we make the most of the EV boom. All three parties have the responsibility to make this new business sustainable in the long term.”

Agenda highlights include an interview with Peter Hambro (Chairman, Peter Hambro Limited and Former Executive Chairman, Petropavlovsk) and Patricio de Solminihac T. (CEO, SQM). Commodity focus panels will be examining the growth prospects of gold, battery metals and other key resource markets while junior miners will have the chance to pitch their exploration projects to a panel of investor judges at the Investment Battlefield.

The inaugural event last year gathered over 300 participants, with more than 51% of the participants in decision making roles including C-Suite Executives, Senior Level Managers and Directors. The 2018 event is set to welcome even more senior stakeholders from across the globe.

Mining Cumbre takes place 10-11 July in Santiago, Chile. Visit the Mining Cumbre website to find out more about the agenda: https://goo.gl/eoPJh4
