TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Canadian base-metals-miner Inmet Mining, which has mines in Europe, Canada and Papua New Guinea, has appointed president and COO Jochen Tilk as CEO, the firm announced on Monday.

He replaces Richard Ross, who is also chairperson of the company's board and is retiring from the position of CEO effective immediately.

Ross will remain as chairperson until December 31, to facilitate the executive transition, the firm said.

Inmet has base metals and gold mines in Spain, Turkey, Finland and Canada, as well as a stake in the Ok Tedi mine, in Papua New Guinea.

The company also has a project in Panama.
