JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Zimbabwean coal miner Hwange Colliery on Friday announced that it had suspended its MD Stenjwa Thomas Makore with effect from May 14, pending a disciplinary hearing.

During his suspension, Makore is not authorised to transact or conduct any business on behalf of the company.

Zimabawean media have reported that the suspension is linked to allegations of corruption and insubordination.

Makore was appointed Hwange MD in 2014.

In the interim, the company has appointed Shepard Manamike as acting MD.
