JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Aim-listed Goldplat has entered into an agreement with AngloGold Ashanti to buy gold-bearing materials, which it planned to process at its Tema processing facility, in Ghana, in order boost the overall monthly output of its Gold Recovery Ghana (GRG) business.
GRG would acquire fine carbon and mill liners, which were byproducts from the mining process, from AngloGold’s Obuasi and Iduapriem operations in Ghana, for processing.
Stockpiles of these materials have accumulated at the two operations and the first load would be delivered to GRG at the beginning of April.
“We are focused on increasing production at GRG, so we’re delighted to strengthen an existing relationship with one of the major mining companies, AngloGold, and secure additional long-term supplies of gold-bearing materials for processing and future production,” Goldplat CEO Demetri Manolis noted in a statement.
He added that both its gold recovery businesses in Ghana and South Africa remained cash generative and profitable.
