TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – NYSE-listed Goldcorp reported on Tuesday that it had, for the second consecutive time, been included in the semiannual reranking of the NASDAQ OMX CRD Global Sustainability Index.

This listing ranked Goldcorp, the world’s largest gold producer by market value, as one of the top 100 companies in the world for its sustainability reporting and performance.

Goldcorp was recognised for taking a leadership role in disclosing its carbon footprint, energy usage, water consumption, hazardous and nonhazardous waste, employee safety, workforce diversity, management composition and community investing.

"We appreciate being formally recognised by outside organisations because it gives us external feedback that our programmes are fulfilling the goals we have set for our operations worldwide and that our strategy is aligned with the concerns of our stakeholders,” president and CEO Chuck Jeannes commented.

The NASDAQ OMX CRD Global Sustainability Index was an equally-weighted equity index that served as a benchmark for stocks of companies that were taking a leadership role in sustainability performance reporting and were traded on a major US stock exchange. The twice-yearly index was evaluated in May and November.
