Gauteng firm wins distributor rights for Australian pump

Gauteng-based Rokflo has been appointed the exclusive African distributor for the Southern Cross Pentair SX Solids pumps range from Australia.

Rokflo will exhibit the SX60 Solids pump, which is part of the SX Solids range at Electra Mining Africa. The complete range of pumps comprises 12 sizes and can be supplied in a number of configurations to suit the media to be pumped.

Rofklo finance and marketing director Riana Macdougall explains that the SX Solids pumps are unique in the sense that they are pneumatically operated units capable of transferring up to 60 m3/h of any high-specific gravity, high-viscosity, flowable material with solids sizes up to 80% of the diameter of the inlet.

“SX Solids pumps are not a competitor to conventional pumps, they come into their own where traditional pumps fail, owing to the high solids nature of the material being conveyed,” she says.

SX Solids pumps are self-priming, have no rotating parts and do not have moving parts in contact with the pumped material, therefore, they are not susceptible to clogging and wear that occurs in centrifugal type pumps.

“SX Solids pumps do not suffer from cavitation and can be run dry indefinitely,” Macdougall adds.

The oil and gas and mining industries typically make use of the SX Solids range, but essentially, any industry which has to convey hard-to-pump materials, even if the material is dry like a powder or sand, can make use of the pumps.

“If the material can flow, the SX Solids pump can pump it.”

Rokflo will have a live demonstration on the SX Solids pump at its stand.
