NYSE-listed Freeport-McMoRan has announced the death of its former chairperson James Moffett.
Moffett, passing away at the age of 82, served as chairperson of the company from 1984 to 2015, as well as CEO from 1984 to 2003.
He also co-founded McMoRan Exploration in 1969.
Under Moffett’s leadership, McMoRan merged with Freeport Minerals Company.
